The Teen Resource Center is an outreach program of the North Georgia Health District in Dalton Georgia. It is a place where teenagers in the Whitfield and Murray county areas can receive physical and emotional health care.

The Career Development Program teaches students the skills they will need in today's business world. One of program's goals is to help student increase their chances of getting a job. The program demonstrates techniques and strategies that contribute to a successful interview. Teens will be introduced to how to prepare for an interview, how to make a positive "first impression" and even discuss how to dress for an interview. Using role-play, teens will have an opportunity to practice typical interview questions.

The Health Education component of the Teen Resource Center has several curriculums that are available to teens. Programs are offered on a monthly basis with topics rotating.

Teens representing the local high schools are trained to help their peers by providing information about teen concerns. Teens are trained in public speaking and how to talk one-on-one with other teens about teen issues. The youth council provides a representative voice for the youth of each county in our district. The Youth Entrepreneurship program can equip young people with the skills and attitudes needed to start their own business. It begins to instill the motivation that comes from hope and positive life options. During the program teens can gain:

• enhanced self esteem;
• a better understanding of business;
• improvement in math, reading ,writing, and oral communication skills;
• an increased desire to continue their education;
• a greater sense of direction and control over their future; and
• the desire and ability to find and secure employment or create a job for themselves.
