Fact or Fiction

Round #3: But I love you...
"Let's Talk about This"
parkThe next day Jayme calls you and you decide to go to the park for a picnic. There'll be lots of people around, but you hope that you can talk with Jayme.

The park is great. As you sit by the lake you decide to bring up the subject of your physical relationship. It isn't easy at first, but you and Jayme talk about how you feel about each other and how that relates to having a physical relationship.

You discover that Jayme has been sexually active in the past. It was two years ago at a party with someone Jayme really didn't know very well. After a few months, Jayme lost touch with the person. Now Jayme feels so bad about this relationship and sometimes worries about HIV.

You should:

A. Encourage Jayme to get tested for HIV.

Great decision! Jayme does need to be tested - for peace of mind and to protect others if Jayme is infected.

Together you determine that neither of you are really ready for the relationship to become more intimate. You love Jayme, but you can't complicate your life right now with the responsibilities that a physical relationship would bring. Jayme also needs to have the STD and HIV test.

SEE WHAT HAPPENS NEXT...

B. Tell Jayme that HIV would have shown up by now.

Better think that through again. Symptoms of a HIV infection may not show up for up to 5 years! Jayme needs to be tested for HIV and STDs to be sure that there is no infection.
